Audio Systems for the Visually Impaired

DOT AU recognises the challenges facing many members of our community, and has made available as open source software an exciting audio system for the visually impaired and/or elderly. This system provides for greater independence and improved capacity to operate in a world where our electronic audio devices are becoming smaller and more complex on a daily basis. This software is provided under the GPL Licence to ensure that future enhancements are returned directly back into the community. Using a very light Python application runing on a Linux operating system, almost any hardware is capable of running this system. The creative new navigational process means that anyone who has the capability of providing even the slightest interaction with the outside world can fully operate all features of the software. |
